Bucks Co. Police To Crack Down On Traffic Violations

As the volume of traffic increases, police will be looking for safety belt and other violations, especially at night, officials said.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Officers with 15 Bucks County police departments will be cracking down on safety belt and traffic violations over the next few weeks, according to law enforcement officials.

From now through June 6, those departments, along with others throughout the state, will be paying special attention to traffic violations, including whether drivers and passengers are wearing seat belts, authorities say.

Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub said traffic volume in the county has increased recently, as the weather gets warmer and some restrictions from the coronavirus shutdown have eased.

"With things ticking up, we want to make sure everyone on the roads is staying safe," Weintraub said.

Weintraub said the extra enforcement will be concentrated on nighttime hours, when police see increased numbers of deadly crashes caused by drunk driving and other factors.
