WARMINSTER TOWNSHIP, PA — The Archdiocese of Philadelphia said there were no indications of criminal conduct by a Bucks County teacher and youth sports coach until he was arrested on Wednesday.

Richard Adamsky, a teacher at Nativity of Our Lord Parish School in Warminster, was arrested by the Warminster Police Department at his home on Wednesday morning.

He faces felony criminal charges of having "hundreds of images" of child pornography and for the criminal use of a communications device, authorities said.

The Archdiocese said that information regarding Adamsky's arrest and its circumstances was shared directly with the school administration by law enforcement agents for the first time Wednesday.

"Neither the school, nor the parish, nor the Archdiocese had any indication of alleged wrongdoing on Mr. Adamsky’s part until being notified of his arrest earlier (Wednesday), a statement from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia said.

He has coached football, softball, basketball, and track and field at Nativity as well as Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, the Warrington Athletic Association, Lenape Middle School in Central Bucks, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Doylestown, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office said.

"Based on information provided by law enforcement, it is our understanding that the activities involved Adamsky’s personal electronic devices only and that there were no allegations that he had physically harmed a student or minor," the Archdiocese said.

The images found on electronic devices belonging to Adamsky were of girls in the same age group that he taught at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School on Street Road in Warminster, authorities said.

"These charges are serious and disturbing," the Archdiocese said. "The Archdiocese is cooperating with law enforcement and remains fervently committed to preventing child abuse as well as protecting the children and young people entrusted to its care. Child pornography is a scourge that must be eradicated."

As a condition of his employment, Adamsky had up-to-date criminal background checks and child abuse clearances on file, the Archdiocese said in its statement.

Additionally, no complaints of inappropriate behavior with minors had ever been lodged against him, the Archdiocese said.

The Archdiocese said that Adamsky has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this criminal matter.

Adamsky has been a teacher at the school for over 40 years and was a staff member through the end of the school year, officials confirmed.

The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
