BUCKS COUNTY, PA — For the past two elections, turnout at the polls was among the highest ever recorded by the Bucks County Board of Elections, according to records.

Will Tuesday's general election continue that trend?

The Bucks County Board of Elections reported that 25.8 percent of the county's 395,246 registered voters cast 101,926 ballots for school board and municipal races in the county's 306 precincts during the May primary election.

That turnout was the second-highest for a Bucks County primary election since the Board of Elections began reporting voter turnout statistics in 2003. In May 2021, the county turnout in the municipal primary election was 25.98 percent.

Those same school board and races for mayor, council, commissioner, and supervisor are once again up for grabs on Tuesday, with those races now contested between Democratic and Republican candidates.

Voter turnout for the November general election was 81.79 percent, the highest in Bucks County since the board began keeping records.

In last year's general election, Bucks County helped elect Donald Trump, the first time a Republican won the county since the Bush-Dukakis race in 1988.

Trump won Bucks County, getting 196,654 votes to 195,370 votes for Harris, according to results from the Bucks County Board of Elections.

Going into Tuesday's election, Republicans still have 10,000 more registered voters than Democrats.

The number of registered voters has held steady, remaining relatively unchanged for six months, according to the most recent figures provided by the Bucks County Board of Elections.

Of the county's registered voters, 202,257 are Republicans and 192,416 are Democrats, according to the most recent figures.

Meanwhile, 84,748 residents are listed as others, meaning they are either Independent or other third party supporters or have no affiliation to any party.
