PHILADELPHIA —Say goodbye to the Sixers' season and hello to the upcoming NFL Draft. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies are off to a solid start.

These were some of the sports stories making news recently in the Philadelphia region:

Philadelphia Phillies Come Out Of The Gates Swinging

It's only a small sample, but the Philadelphia Phillies started the season with one of the best records in baseball. Now, it's a long season and runs into hopefully the end of October for this team. Kyle Schwarber is already putting up monster numbers, and the team is getting great pitching from the likes of Jesus Luzardo and even Taijuan Walker.

Losing two of three from the hated Atlanta Braves didn't help nor Alec Bohm's lack of hitting (see below), but Schwarber, Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and company can carry this team on their backs.

NFL Draft Is One Of Football's Main Events

The NFL Draft is coming! The NFL Draft is coming! This is the time of the year when Philadelphia Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman shines. Roseman is known to make draft-day deals (Trade for A.J. Brown) and drafts in nabbing Jalen Hurts in the second round and Jalen Carter besides picking up two key cornerbacks last year.

Who knows what Roseman has up his sleeve from April 24-26 when the draft is held in Green Bay.

Yes, this team has lots of holes to fill. But in Howie, we always trust. And besides, these Birds are Super Bowl champions.

Sixers Season (Thankfully) Is Coming To An End

So, how will we remember the season of our tanking basketball team? I guess what matters most now is keeping the high draft pick that's only protected by having one of the worst records in the NBA.

The Philadelphia 76ers seem to be achieving that goal.

All-World Center Joel Embiid showed up with a bumb knee and pretty much was a non-entity all season. And since the Sixers need Embiid to make them playoff-worthy, the season wasn't worth saving.

All-Star Guard Tyrese Maxey tried his best but couldn't reach the superstar level. Meanwhile, major free-agent signee Paul George was a complete bust and a waste of money. Sixers owner Josh Harris is only focused on his Washington Commanders, so he won't clean house when the season ends. But he should.

Someone needs to end this misery that has lasted for years now. We fans are the ones suffering.

Bohm Poster Child Of Philly Sports Radio Criticism

Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm was almost traded out of town after being benched in the playoffs last year and displaying a "babyish" attitude where management hoped he would find some maturity. Bohm even broke out the torpdeo bats, but right now, he's driving Philly Sports media and fans batty.

Bohm needs to get his act together. The team was counting on him to protect Bryce Harper in the lineup, but Bohm is delivering more goose eggs than can be found in a hen house these days.

The lack of hits has sent Bohm down from the cleanup spot. And if he isn't careful, another benching might be in store. The Phillies should move on from Bohm. He needs a change of scenery.
