The guest list for the event included several Philly natives—Kelly had been born and raised in Philadelphia—and one such attendee was Eagles statistician Jack Edelstein, Town and Country Magazine said.
During her conversation, the princess asked Edelstein what the team's colors were and he responded "Green and silver."
"Those are my favorite colors," the princess stated.
Edelstein promised to send Diana Eagles T-shirts, but the team's owner thought a jacket would be more fitting.
The princess was photographed wearing the jacket while visiting Alton Towers Theme Park with Prince William and Prince Harry. She also wore it to drop off Prince Harry at Wetherby School in London.
Replicas of Diana's Eagles jacket are available for purchase at the Eagles Pro Shop and the Mitchell & Ness Flagship Store.
