Sept. 11 Flag Memorial Scheduled In Warminster
Hartsville Fire Company will be flying more than 400 U.S. flags in memory of responders killed in the 2001 attacks.
WARMINSTER, PA — A memorial service has been canceled due to COVID-19, but a daylong flag memorial to the Sept. 11 attacks is still on in Warminster.
The Hartsville Fire Company will hold its 9-11 Flag Memorial on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020. The memorial display will consist of 403 U.S. flags on the fire station's front lawn.
The flags represent the 343 New York City firefighters, 37 New York Port Authority officers and 23 New York Police Department officers who died while saving others during the 2001 attacks. Two additional flags will represent volunteer firefighters John Kulick and Tristan Smith, who were killed in action in Iraq.

"Although emergency responders are foremost in our thoughts and prayers, we wish to remember everyone who lost their lives in New York City, Washington, D.C. and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 11, 2001," the fire company said in a social media post.
The station will be open from sunup to 7 p.m. to visitors who may wish to "stop, reflect and remember," the post said.

The company's annual public memorial service, which had been scheduled for 7 p.m., is canceled this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.
