Summer Road Trip Safety Stressed For Lower Bucks Co. Drivers

The Bucks County District Attorney's Office is offering safety tips for families taking road trips this summer.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — With summer in high gear, many Bucks County residents will hit the roads instead of taking to the skies.

Summer road trips are a hot ticket with gas prices better than last summer.

But before you pack up the family station wagon (at least that was the mode of travel years ago!), the Bucks County District's Attorney's Office is offering some tips for these road trips.

Authorities state that vehicles are stolen every 32 seconds in the nation.

Authorities said that 21,144 vehicles were stolen across Pennsylvania last year.

The Bucks County District Attorney's Office is offering these safe travel tips:

  • Lock your car. Every time.
  • Take your keys. Don’t leave key fobs in the car.
  • Hide your stuff. Keep bags, tech, even sunglasses out of sight.
  • Close your windows. If windows are cracked, they may be broken into.
  • Get in and go. Don’t sit and scroll or text in the driver’s seat.
  • Park smart. Find well-lit, busy spots.
  • Keep eyes up and be attentive.
