PHILADELPHIA, PA —Super Bowl Hero Nick Foles —the man behind the Philly Special —got a hero's welcome at the Linc during the Philadelphia Eagles' games against the Atlanta Falcons on "Monday Night Football."

Meanwhile, the Sixers are sticking around in the city for a while instead of being lured to New Jersey after working out a deal for a new arena in Center City. But that team's news was trounced by Friday's news that star Joel Embiid has signed a contract extension.

These were some of the sports stories making news this past week:

Super Bowl Hero Nick Foles Retires As An Eagle

He called for the "Philly Special." After leading the Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history, Quarterback Nick Foles will always be "Philly Special." Foles was honored during the Eagles game against the Atlanta Falcons on "Monday Night Football" and will never have to pay for a drink in the City of Brotherly Love because he will now always be beloved by the fan base for taking the Birds to the Promised Land.

Embiid Signs Extension To Seek Elusive Championship

"The Process" wants to get the job done. Sixers Superstar Joel Embiid is the $301 million man, now having that much money coming to him over the next five years. JoJo inked a three-year, $192.9 million extension so he can probably christen the new arena that will be coming to Center City at some point down the road.

Phillies Hunting For Red October Once Again

The Philadelphia Phillies are near clinching if they can just beat the New York Mets. The Phillies have a magic number that is shrinking by the day as the baseball season winds down. They should easily win the National League East, but they are chasing the Los Angeles Dodgers for the elusive bye. Otherwise, the No. 2 seed could have them facing the Mets in the playoffs. But maybe, just maybe, the Atlanta Braves won't make it to the post-season so that's a win right there!

Here Comes Hockey With The Fly Guys Starting Camp

Fall sports kinda sneak up on us. The calendar hits October and the Philadelphia Eagles are in full swing. The Phillies are playing for a return to the World Series and getting Owner John Middleton his trophy and Bryce Harper his ring. The Sixers are all over the news lately. But get ready because the Philadelphia Flyers are opening training camp and bringing along their Russian draft choice they hope will be the team's next superstar since Eric Lindros. Gotta love fall sports!
