Super Bowl Path Clear For Eagles: This Week In Philly Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles host the Los Angeles Rams at home in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs on Sunday.

PHILADELPHIA, PA —The path looks promising.

The Philadelphia Eagles are two wins away from going to New Orleans and playing for the second time in the Super Bowl under the wings of Coach Nick Siriani and Quarterback Jalen Hurts.

The first step is beating the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL Divisional Round Playoffs.

While Coach Sean McVey and Quarterback Matthew Stafford have a Super Bowl ring on their fingers, they won't have one this year.

The Rams are a dome team, and playing in a potentially snowy Philadelphia Sunday at the Linc is out of their element.

We are all upset about how Los Angeles has been destroyed by the fires over the past two weeks, and tragedies like this often serve as a rallying cry that leads teams to championships.

But the Birds are just too good.

And the defense should wreak havoc on Stafford despite having an arsenal of wide receivers in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua as good as any in the NFL.

Meanwhile, Hurts is just as dangerous and the Birds have more offensive weapons in Running Back Saquon Barkley, Tight End Dallas Goedert, and Wide Receivers A.J. Brown and Devonte Smith.

What makes the Birds even more of a force is its secret weapon: The best offensive line in football.

You can't beat the dominance of Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, and Mekhi Becton.

Once the Birds beat the Rams, the path to the Super Bowl might not have to go through Detroit.

While the Detroit Lions have the No. 1 Seed and home-field advantage for the playoffs, they can be beaten. And the Washington Commanders can beat the Lions. They already knocked off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a Doink field goal and rookie Quarterback Jayden Daniels has a knack for pulling rabbits out of a hat to win games going down to the wire.

He did it to the Eagles with a last-second touchdown. But Daniels can't keep being a magician. He's had a great run and beating the Lions on Saturday night would be such a feather in his cap and capping off a remarkable year for the Commanders, who are playing with house money.

It takes two victories.

After a 14-3 season and a dominant win over the Green Bay Packers despite Hurts shaking off rust from a concussion, the team should be able to play even better on Sunday against the Rams.

The Birds can beat the Lions too even if they have to play in Detroit. Eagles fans travel well as we all know and they would make it a home game.

These Birds aren't going to get their wings clipped.

It's a return to the Super Bowl after a few years away. Who they play will be decided down the road.

For now, the focus is on the Rams. Then the NFL Championship Game.

It takes two victories. And then New Orleans.
