Tornado Tips Issued By Bucks Emergency Management

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —With a Tornado Watch in effect for Lower Bucks County Friday, Bucks County Emergency Management is offering tips in case a tornado hits.

The National Weather Service is predicting the possibility of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms across the entire region through Friday evening.

Additionally, strong winds ranging from 15-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected, particularly near the coast and bays.

What You Need to Know:

• Stay Informed: Keep up with the latest weather updates through reliable sources such as local news and weather apps.
• Seek Shelter: Find a small, windowless interior room on the lowest level of your home. Avoid using elevators.
• Protect Yourself: Use a mattress or heavy furniture to shield yourself from flying debris and take cover under a sturdy table or workbench.
• Secure Outdoor Items: Bring in or secure any outdoor furniture, decorations, and trash cans to prevent them from becoming projectiles in strong winds.
• Avoid Downed Power Lines: If you encounter downed power lines or damaged power equipment, stay away and report it immediately to your local utility company.
• Prepare an Emergency Kit: Ensure you have essentials like bottled water, non-perishable food, a flashlight, batteries, and a first-aid kit ready in case of power outages or evacuations.
