WARMINSTER, PA — Police in Warminster have shared a video of the moments that may have saved a man's life after he was attacked by a dog.

On Oct. 2, Warminster Police Department Officer Joseph Parell was conducting a traffic detail at Tenth Avenue and York Road when he was approached by a man saying he needed help. The man got out of his vehicle and fell to his knees, holding his right arm which, along with his torso, was soaked with blood.

At the time, police did not release the cause of the man's injuries. But, now, they're saying that he'd been attacked by a dog. Police say the man's forearm was shredded in the attack and he was suffering from severe blood loss.

In the video, Parell's body cam shows him informing a dispatcher that he had applied a tourniquet to the man's arm, then checking on him. The man, who is kneeling on the ground and doubled over, asks Parell not to further tighten the tourniquet.

"I know, trust me. It's very, very, very uncomfortable. And that means it's working," Parell can be heard saying.

According to police, Parell also gathered cloth and gauze to help slow the man's bleeding. The victim passed out just as an ambulance was arriving, police said, and he was taken to Abington Hospital for treatment.

Police say the victim has since reached out to Parell to thank him for saving his life. Watch the body-cam video below.
