$3.6M Upgrades On Route 322 Chester County Ongoing; PennDOT

PennDOT said the project aims to improve conditions for motorists and bicyclists.

WEST CHESTER, PA A $3.6 million project on a 2.87-mile span of Route 322 in East Bradford and West Goshen townships is underway.

The project aims to improve the safe and efficient movement of motorists and bicyclists on the West Chester Bypass corridor.

Construction is expected to be complete this winter.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

  • Monday, Oct. 9, through Friday, Oct. 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following morning, periodic lane closures are scheduled on U.S. 322 in both directions between Route 322 and Route 202 for inlet adjustments and guide rail installation.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

The project will narrow the travel lanes; extend the acceleration lanes; replace and install traffic signals; construct shoulders to accommodate bicycles; install center line rumble strips; replace guide rails; and install wrong-way countermeasures.

The intersections included in the project are North New Street, Route 100, Penn Drive, Phoenixville Pike, and Route. 202.

Allan Myers of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
