Chester County Safe School Summit Set For Wednesday

Chester County Intermediate Unit is hosting a program for parents to learn how to keep their children safe online.

DOWNINGTOWN — Do you know how to keep your children safe online in the digital age?

If not, the Chester County Intermediate Unit is hosting a Safe Schools Summit in a Digital World, focusing on increasing parental awareness of threats and other concerns.

The event is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday via Zoom.

Keynote speakers are Detective Bernard Martin and investigation expert Michele Stuart.

The summit will provide parents with the opportunity to learn about examining current social media apps and platforms, increasing parental awareness of digital interaction threats and identifying the steps that parents can take to keep children safe.

Martin and Stuart will explore the digital connections children make through social media, gaming systems and various online applications.

Martin has over 16 years of experience in law enforcement with a Ph.D. in leadership and is also an adjunct professor at his alma mater, West Chester University, where he teaches law enforcement technology, criminal profiling and policing.

Stuart is the owner and operator of JAG Investigations, Inc. and serves as an instructor at the FBI Academy at Quantico and is a former adjunct professor at the University of Virginia.
