Chester County Takes Over Some Transportation Services
The county's Community Transit Department began April 1 providing transportation service to seniors, those with disabilities, and others.
CHESTER COUNTY, PA —Chester County Community Transit Department’s new service, Chesco Connect, provides paratransit services for residents of Chester County.
The new service was effective on Saturday, April 1. It has replaced the majority of services provided by Rover community transportation.
Starting on April 1, these riders have services provided by Chesco Connect:

- Adults ages 65 and older
- Riders traveling to and from any health care or medical treatment provider that is covered by Medical Assistance
- Persons with disabilities traveling for recreation, work, medical appointments, and shopping trips
- General public riders paying full fare
Riders with disabilities who take trips to day programming, workshops, clubhouses, and similar facilities throughout the county will continue to have their rides provided by Rover Community Transportation.
The change follows a decline in the use of paratransit systems following the pandemic.

"Because of the uncertainty in ridership levels, and the cost to subsidize the community transportation service, the county will take the lead on providing the majority of community transportation service, from April 1 of this year,” Pat Bokovitz, director of the Chester County Department of Human Services, said.
