Convicted Killer Cavalcante Faces Court For Chesco Crimes On The Run
A preliminary hearing is set for Friday in District Court in Kennett Square.

KENNETT SQUARE, PA —Convicted killer Danilo Cavalcante is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Friday, Feb. 2, on burglaries and other charges that he is accused of committing while on the run in Chester County for two weeks.
The hearing is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. before District Judge Albert Iacocca, 916 West Cypress St., Kennett Square.
The public will be admitted to the courtroom at 9:15 p.m. and will be seated in an area designated by court security, according to an order issued Wednesday by President Judge John Hall.

Cavalcante escaped from Chester County Prison in Pocopson Township on Aug. 31 and was captured about 20 miles away on Sept. 13 in South Coventry Township.
He was taken into custody by a team of law enforcement officers with the help of A K-9 Yoda, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois from the Border Patrol Tactical Team.

While on the run, police said, Cavalcante was charged with burglarizing homes in Pennsbury and South Coventry townships, stealing the firearm, clothing, and a shaving razor.
He was also charged with stealing a Ford Transit van in Pocopson Township that he drove along Route 100 during his escape.
Cavalcante was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison on Aug. 16 for the April 2021 fatal stabbing of his ex-girlfriend Deborah Brandao, 33, in Schuylkill Township. Cavalcante was also wanted in Brazil for a 2017 killing.
Cavalcante is in the state Correctional Institution at Greene, Greene County, serving life in prison.
