Hazmat Leak Closed Rt. 202 in Westtown Twp.
Update: Lanes shut down Wednesday morning in order to clean up leaking load of volatile material on Rt. 202 in Westtown Township.

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Yesterday's prolonged shutdown of Rt. 202 in Westtown Township was due to a leaking tractor trailer loaded with 8,500 gallons of hazardous material.
The West Chester Borough Fire Department said the leaking hazmat load closed the road most of the day while Chester County's Emergency Services hazardous materials unit worked to contain the leak of volatile material.
Chester County Emergency Services reported the closure of Rt. 202 between High Street and Rt. 926 in Westtown Township late Wednesday morning.

Rt. 202 was also closed at other points along Rt. 202, as well. The closures snarled traffic in the area all day.
Fame Fire Co. No. 3 and others West Chester firefighters operated for several hours alongside hazmat workers from the Chester County Department of Emergency Services team.
