Fire Breaks Out At Hazmat Facility In Chester County

WEST FALLOWFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — A major fire ripped through a Chester County manufacturing facility with hazardous materials in the early morning hours Tuesday, authorities said.

The Chester County Hazardous Materials Response Team says there is currently no threat to the public and "no requirement for evacuations."

The incident began at around 3:10 a.m. on 500 Bailey Crossroads Road in West Fallowfield Township, at the Action Manufacturing Company.

The facility produces fuses, electronic devices, and custom energetics. It is a "Tier II" hazardous materials facility, meaning its products reach a threshold mandating regular reports to emergency planning committees and state leaders.

The fire was confirmed extinguished at about 3:30 p.m.

No injuries have been reported, and the extent of the damage is not yet clear.

Bailey Crossroads Road remains shut down from Steelville Road to King Road Tuesday afternoon.

The ATF is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Chester County Fire Marshals' Office and the Pennsylvania State Police.

Residents are asked to avoid the area.
