Health inspectors found violations in restaurants in West Chester in December.
WEST CHESTER— Health inspectors paid visits to numerous establishments in the West Chester area during the first two weeks of December.
Inspectors found some establishments in violation of health codes set by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

- Emma’s Healthy Choices LLC, 1165 Wilmington Pike: 2 violations, food person in charge unable to provide documentation that freeze-dried fruit are from a reliable source, cup in sink used for handwashing.
- H&L Grill, 1165 Wilmington Pike: 22 violations: unauthorized person in the kitchen, employees not washing hands, employee’s beverage in the food prep area, severely damaged cans in dry storage area, raw bacon in deli meat area, squeeze bottles not labeled, wiping clothes not sanitized, containers of food on the floor of the refrigerator, soup cooling at room temperature in stock pots, cheese at room temperature, chocolate milk with expiration dates, rubber spatulas broken, need to clean deli slicer, no sanitizer strips, need to clean tiles, and discard jelly.
- Old Barn and Bulk Foods, 1165 Wilmington Pike: 3 violations: employees with beards not wearing face coverings, cases of food stored on the floor, maintaining proper sanitation.
- Pretzel and Log House, 1165 Wilmington Pike: 11 violations: open employee beverage in food prep area, burn on employee’s hand not treated, employees not wearing hair restraints.
- Ground Provisions, 1388 Old Wilmington Pike: five violations: metal cans stored in cooler, potentially hazardous for requiring date marking, no sanitizer test strips, and container used for storing food not properly marked.
- Pica’s Restaurant, 1231 West Chester Pike: replace damaged door gaskets, and clean floors in the dry food storage area.
- Giant Food Store, 1502 West Chester Pike: 7 violations, food employee not wearing a proper face covering, three cups of alcoholic slushies not properly labeled, need new pad covers in the prep room, and clean food areas.
- Watermark at Bellingham, 1615 E. Boot Road: 15 violations: dented cans in food facility, raw eggs stored in cooler, food ingredients not labeled, no dates on coleslaw, no sanitizer on three areas, pizza station not in order, food surfaces not clean, and flies and mouse droppings in kitchen
