Kids Volunteer at St. Agnes for Youth Day

Children from all over the West Chester area volunteer at St. Agnes for the first annual Youth Day.

The following is a press release from St. Agnes.

On Monday, January 21, area children participated in the first annual St. Agnes Parish Youth Day of Service at Saint Agnes Church in West Chester.

Over 50 children gathered on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to work on different community service projects, including: serving breakfast to those in need at the St. Agnes Day Room; writing letters to military officers; and cleaning areas of the church. Children also worked with West Chester University students to fill backpacks with school supplies that will be delivered to inner city schools in Philadelphia.

“This was a great opportunity for our parish children to put their faith into practice,” said Kelly Catania, East Bradford resident and volunteer coordinator for the Youth Day of Service. “And it’s a wonderful lesson in working together as a community to serve others.”

The Youth Day of Service was held on Monday, January 21, marking both Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the feast day of the parish’s patron saint, Saint Agnes.
