Hall Of Famer Ray Didinger To Speak At Uptown! In West Chester

Didinger, a Philadelphia sports expert, will share his predictions for the Eagles 2023-24 season.

WEST CHESTER, PA — While the Philadelphia Eagles are getting ready for the pre-season, retired Pro Football Hall of Fame writer Ray Didinger will give a talk about the 2023 football season and the Eagles’ bid to repeat as NFC champions.

Didinger will be joined by his longtime partner, Glen Macnow, WIP sports radio, for a meet and greet at 6 p.m. followed by a talk at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 8, at Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center, 226 N. High St., West Chester. Food at the meet-and-greet will be provided by Liberty Union Bar & Grill.

During his talk, “Looking Back and Looking Ahead,” Didinger will also discuss about his newly released paperback, “One Last Read,” an anthology of his writings over the years.

Didinger, a native of Delaware County, hosted “Eagles Postgame Live on NBC Sports Philadelphia and a show on WIP sports radio on weekends with Glen Macnow.

Didinger was the first print journalist inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame and as a columnist for the Philadelphia Bulletin and Philadelphia Daily News.

In 1996, he won the Dick McCann Award for long and distinguished reporting on pro football and his name was added to the writer's honor roll at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He was named Pennsylvania Sportswriter of the Year five times.
Didinger said that for most people living in the Philadelphia region, the Eagles are family.

“The Eagles are something you plan for,” Didinger said. “You watch the game with family and friends, and there is an investment of time and emotion that is unique.”

Didinger also won six Emmy Awards as a writer and producer for NFL Films.

Didinger’s play, “Tommy and Me,” the story of his lifelong friendship with Eagles Hall of Famer, Tommy McDonald, will be presented at Uptown! from Sept. 8 to 17.

Didinger met McDonald, a wide receiver who helped take the Eagles to the 1960 championship when Didinger was 10. The play focuses on McDonald’s autobiography.
