DOWNINGTOWN, PA — A major sinkhole opened up in Chester County over the weekend, snarling traffic in the area.

The incident occurred on Boot Road near Southwind Drive in East Caln Township, shutting down Boot Road and impacting the morning commute Tuesday.

In a statement, police said they are unsure on the cause of the sinkhole but hope to know by Wednesday.
