Month Worth Of Rain Tuesday Causes Mayhem In Chesco

The rainfall throughout Chester County was nearly as high as 4 inches on Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

CHESTER COUNTY—A storm soaked Chester County with almost 4 inches of rain in spots Tuesday through early Wednesday and caused more than 63,000 power outages, flooding, road closures, and school closings.

The Schuylkill River rose to 12.3 feet, and Brandywine Creek in Downingtown, to 12.84 feet, causing flooding along the banks, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm hit the Downingtown area hard, causing portions of Route 30 and Route 322, between Route 30 and Downing Avenue, to close Tuesday night.

West Chester Area School District, Phoenixville Area School District, Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, and Great Valley School District were closed Wednesday.
