New West Chester Police Chief Joshua Lee Is Sworn In
Lee replaced Jim Morehead who retired on Jan. 12 after 23 years of service.

WEST CHESTER —Several dozen family members, friends, and law enforcement officers came out on a cold Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the swearing-in of West Chester Police Chief Josh Lee.
Lee’s son, Miles, and daughter, Scarlet, held the Bible as Lee took the oath of office to serve the residents of West Chester and East Bradford Township.
“I will always strive to do the right thing,” Lee said, during the ceremony at Borough Hall. “As chief of police, that is the promise I make to everyone.”

Mayor Lillian DeBaptiste thanked everyone for coming to the ceremony and for helping out with the selection process.
The department has 44 police officers and 15 staffers.

Lee, a 24-year veteran, replaced Chief James Morehead who retired on Jan. 12 after 23 years in the department.
Lt. Lee has held the ranks of patrol officer, corporal, sergeant, and lieutenant.
Lee was hired by West Chester Police in 2000. He graduated from the University of Delaware and the Delaware County Community College Police Academy. He served as an administrative liaison to the West Chester Regional Emergency Response Team.
Lee volunteers as a mentor at the Charles Melton Community Center and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chester County Crime Victims’ Center.
Lee attended The FBI Academy, in Quantico, VA, with officers from all 50 states and six continents.
