Please describe why this individual is a hero at your school.
Dr. Young is the principal at Radnor Elementary and is absolutely a gem! My son transferred within the school district to RES two years ago when Dr. Young oversaw the opening of an “emotional support” classroom at the school - the first in the district - for children with a spectrum of special needs requiring additional support beyond a mainstream classroom. While my son (who has ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, and will enter fourth grade in the fall) only spends about 20 minutes a day in this classroom, it offers him a refuge when he feels overwhelmed and needs the support of the special education teacher who heads it, or just a quiet break. Dr. Young has been instrumental in ensuring my son’s success after many years of struggling in another school and private preschool before that. He now loves school and I am so grateful! And, I’ve seen Dr. Young’s gift with staff, students and parents yielding positive results all around. She’s a star!
