Road Closures Today In West Chester For Parade

The borough has starting closing roads this afternoon for the 2022 Christmas Parade.

WEST CHESTER, PA — Road Closures already started this afternoon at 2 p.m. and will continue until 10 p.m. tonight for the annual tree lighting and 2022 West Chester parade.

The tree lighting is at 6:30 p.m. outside the historic Chester County Courthouse 137 No. High St., followed by the parade at 7 p.m.

The annual parade features marching bands, performance groups, hometown talent and a visit from Santa.

The annual parade begins on Market Street at New Street, where it heads east toward Matlack Street and completes its one-mile loop heading west on Gay Street through the heart of West Chester’s historic district.

Five paid parking garages/lots are available to parade goers, including:

  • Parking garage at 14 East Chestnut Street
  • Parking garage at 20 South High Street
  • Parking garage at 220 West Market Street (accessible via Wollerton Street from South of Darlington Street due to parade road closures)
  • Parking lot on corner of Chestnut Street and Church Street.
  • Parking lot on corner of Chestnut Street and Darlington Street.


Road closures:
The road closures began at 2 p.m. today with the closure of High Street between Gay and Market until 10 p.m.

From 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., the following roads will be closed:

  • West Market Street between New Street and Bradford Avenur.
  • Gay Street between Matlack Street and New Street.
  • Market Street between Matlack Street abd Bradford Avenue,
  • Walnut Street between Chestnut Street and Miner Street
  • High Street between Chestnut Street and Miner Street,
  • Church Street between Chestnut Street and Market Street
  • Darlington Street between Chestnut Street and Wollerton Alley
  • New Street between Chestnut Street and Market Street.
