Route 82 traffic through the intersection will be controlled with a temporary traffic signal.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through and near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Under this safety improvement project, PennDOT’s contractor will construct a single-lane roundabout to enhance traffic flow through the intersection.
The project will also include a full-depth reconstruction of the existing intersection; a new storm sewer drainage system to improve the conveyance of runoff to downstream drainage swales; grading for future installation of sidewalks and crossings; and lighting will be installed for the roundabout.
The project aims to reduce overall crashes at the intersection; reduce vehicle speeds; and provide a safe and efficient intersection that will serve existing and future traffic.
Marino Corporation of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor for the project, which is financed with 100% federal funds.
