School Bus Struck By Gunfire In Chester County

The bus was full of students when it was struck just after school ended, police said.

COATESVILLE, PA — A school bus was struck by gunfire as it carried children home from school in Chester County on Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred on the 300 block of Charles Street in Coatesville immediately after school.

No one on board the bus, which was filled with high school students, was injured.

"No child should be subjected to gunfire on a school bus," Coatesville Police Chief Jack Lauffer and Chester County District Attorney Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe said in a joint statement. "This is an active, high priority investigation."

Police are asking members of the public who have any security camera footage that may shed light on the investigation to contact them.

The scheduled Coatesville vs. Downingtown football game was canceled on Thursday night, and Coatesville schools went fully remote Friday.
