Springsteen Back In Philadelphia Wednesday
The Boss got his start playing at West Chester University's homecoming in 1972.

PHILADELPHIA, PA—Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band are coming to Citizen’s Park for two nights this week - Wednesday, Aug. 16, and Friday, Aug. 18.
In between the two shows is the first Eagles’ preseason game at Lincoln Financial Stadium.
Believe it or not, Springsteen’s first Philadelphia–area gig was at West Chester University, Chester County, according to a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

It was part of the Homecoming festivities in 1972. The band played six songs. Two years later, he played again in West Chester, in The Wild, The Innocent & the E Street Shuffle tour.
On Oct. 28, 1972, the band, which would later be named the E Street Band, played in Hollinger Field House in West Chester The members were Springsteen, sax player, Clarence Clemmons; bassist; Garry Tallent; keyboard player, Danny Federici; and drummer “Mad Dog” Lopez.

The E Street Band was the third act. The top show was Cheech and Chong.
He went on the play all over the Philadelphia region, New Jersey, the nation, and the world.
When the E Street Band takes the stage on Wednesday in Philadelphia, it will be the first time since March, when the Boss played at the Wells Fargo Center.
Two shows in one year make up for lost time. The last time the band played in Philadephia was in 2017.
Bruce’s journey in Philadelphia in the 1970s included concerts at the Main Point in Bryn Mawr, Villanova University in Radnor, and the Tower Theater in Upper Darby. Tickets at the Citizen’s Bank Park show start at $99 and are available here.
