Democratic Candidate Wins Chester County Sheriff 2023 Election
Democratic candidate Kevin Dykes won the race for Chester County Sheriff, according to unofficial results.
CHESTER COUNTY, PA —The race for Chester County sheriff was between two candidates with prior experience working in the sheriff's office.
Chester County election staff is counting over 30,000 mail-in ballots and the in-person votes at the polls. The Patch is providing updates on the results provided by the Chester County Voter Services office.
Kevin Dykes, the Democratic candidate, garnered 79,305 votes, according to unofficial results.

Dykes, chief deputy sheriff of Chester County, said his primary goal is to maintain safety in the courts and beyond.
Republican candidate, Roy Kofroth, garnered 65,898 votes, according to the unofficial results. Kofroth is a retired park ranger and former sheriff’s deputy.

The sheriff's office maintains safety in the Chester County Justice Center and other government offices in the 759-square-mile county with a population of over 530,000. The sheriff's position is a four-year term and an annual salary of $74,320.
The office also issues gun permits, transfers prisoners, does fingerprinting, runs real estate sales, and collects protection-from-abuse fees.
