West Chester Couple Charged With Child Endangerment Of 4-Year-Old

Police said a child was found wandering around in a parking lot alone in East Goshen Township on Sept. 25.

EAST GOSHEN, PA —A West Chester couple surrendered to police earlier this month on charges of endangering the welfare of a child who was found wandering around alone at night in a parking lot.

James Hickey, 49, and Tara Bennett, 44, are free on $50,000 bail each awaiting a preliminary hearing.

Police said a resident contacted authorities on Sept. 25 about a child wandering around a parking lot at night in the 2300 block of Pond View Drive, East Goshen.

Emergency medical officials said the child was not harmed.

Police said Hickey and Bennett were found unconscious in a residence allegedly due to an overdose.

Chester County Children and Youth Services were notified of the incident. Police issued the arrest warrant on Dec. 14.
