2 Firearms Confiscated In Lower Makefield

Lower Makefield Police found the guns during traffic stops this week.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — Two firearms were confiscated during separate traffic stops by Lower Makefield Police this week.

Just before 4 p.m. Thursday, police stopped a vehicle on Route 1 southbound and Oxford Valley Road.

A records check revealed the registered owner was wanted out of New Jersey for aggravated assault with a firearm.

A police search of the vehicle found counterfeit currency and a firearm, which the man was prohibited from owning due to being a convicted felon, police said. The firearm was also reported stolen.

A 44-year-old Philadelphia man was taken into police custody. He was charged with possession of a firearm and related charges. He was arraigned and sent to Bucks County Prison on $100,000 bail with 10 percent.

Last Saturday, police stopped a vehicle for traffic violations in the 500 block of West Trenton Avenue at 3:21 p.m. and found a firearm in the vehicle.

A 27-year-old township man was taken into custody for possession of a firearm and for having a firearm not to be carried without a license.

He was arraigned by District Justice Wagner and sent to Bucks County Prison on $500,000 with 10 percent bail.
