$24K Email Spoof, Stolen Credit Card Used For Years: Lower Makefield Crimes

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — A credit card still being used in another state was among the criminal incidents reported by The Lower Makefield Township Police Department in its blotter over the past week.

These are the criminal incidents:

Sept. 18

THEFT — 1700 block of Langhorne-Yardley Road at Edelman Wealth Management, reported at 9:02 a.m. The complainant reported receiving what they believed to be an email from a known supplier asking for $24,077.21. After sending payment, the complainant realized this came from a spoofed email.

ATTEMPTED THEFT FROM VEHICLE — 100 block of Aspen Road, reported at 10:54 a.m. The complainant reported that sometime between Sept. 14-18, an unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and rummaged through it. Nothing was reported missing at this time.

Sept. 17

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT — 2300 block of Waterford Road, reported at 9 a.m. The complainant reported that sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and removed the 2019 Lexus IS350 from the driveway. The vehicle was later recovered in Trenton, N.J.

Sept. 16

CREDIT CARD FRAUD — 1300 block of Brentwood Road, reported at 8:13 a.m. The complainant reported that an unknown person(s) has been using their Costco credit card in Colorado since 2022, totaling $14,200 in unauthorized charges.

THEFT — 18000 block of Cornerstone Drive, reported at 3:37 p.m. The complainant reported being a possible victim of fraud via a Craigslist listing for an apartment.

Sept. 15

THEFT — 300 block of Dunhill Way, reported at 2:54 p.m. The complainant reported the theft of a FedEx package delivered on Sept. 10.

RETAIL THEFT:

  • 900 block of Taylor Lane at CVS, reported at 3:36 p.m. The store manager reported that an unknown man entered the store on Sept. 10 and removed $586.47 worth of merchandise without paying.
  • 900 block of Taylor Lane at CVS, reported at 3:36 p.m. The store manager reported that two unknown men entered the store and removed $297.69 worth of merchandise without paying.

Sept. 13

LOITERING & PROWLING ARREST — 200 block of Penn Valley Terrace, reported at 4:50 a.m. Police responded to the report of a theft in progress. Further investigation led to the arrest of the 36-year-old male from Skillman, N.J., for loitering and prowling at night, possession of drug paraphernalia, and Disorderly Conduct. He was taken into police custody.
