YARDLEY, PA — Princeton is a great place to be when the weather warms up — and it doesn't have to cost much to have fun.

Here are five low-cost outings around Yardley and across Bucks County where you can take the family or go with friends.

Five-Mile Woods Nature Preserve — The woods are calling and they are nearby. The 285-acre nature preserve is a favorite in Bucks County at 1305 Big Oak Road, Yardley. Five-Mile Woods is open to the public, so wear your comfortable shoes and head outdoors.

Yardley Farmers Market — Head to Buttonwood Park on a first or third Saturday morning and you'll find it bustling. Winter times are changing to the summer schedule, and starting May 7 the farmers market happens every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Go here for more Yardley Farmers Market information.

Yardley Boro 5K and Memorial Mile Race — The action is just over a month away, so get ready. The Yardley 5K Run & Walk is May 22. This is an annual outing sponsored by the Yardley Borough Parks and Recreation Board. The 5K run begins in the heart of Yardley Borough and includes River Road along the Delaware River and along the Delaware Canal Towpath. On May 30 kids have their own 1-mile race, and everyone can do the Main Street Mile. Tickets to participate are $20, but there's a discount for buying in "bundles" to take part in more than one race. Cars Shows, Cruises All Summer Long! — Car shows are going on all over Pennsylvania, and they are often free to spectators. Follow listings for local or statewide events here or at the helpful Car Cruise Finder website. Look at the posts to see if there's a cost for spectators; fees listed are usually for those entering a car in the show or for vendors. The Camaro Nationals car show will be held in nearby Morgantown, Pennsylvania on July 14-16.

Just Go Fishin' — There is a reason so many people "would rather be fishing." It's a great relaxing pastime and one for all ages. A website called On The Water has helpful info, including where you'll find bait and tackle shops and reports on regional fishing, including for Pennsylvania.
