LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — The 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on America was marked at a ceremony to honor the victims at the Garden of Reflection 9/11 Memorial on Thursday morning.

Lower Makefield Township Police Chief Joseph Kelly III was among the speakers who shared memories of the tragic day 24 years ago, reminding people of the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the incredible bravery of first responders and ordinary citizens alike.

The ceremony on Patriots Day at Memorial Park on Woodside Road paid tribute to the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and in the skies above western Pennsylvania when a plane went down in a field in Shanksville.
