Cocaine Charges Come After Honking Horn In Lower Makefield

Lower Makefield Police have charged a New Jersey man with cocaine possession on Friday.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — It was the constant honking of a car horn that led Lower Makefield police to charge a New Jersey man with cocaine possession.

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department has charged a 34-year-old Pennington, N.J., man with Driving Under the Influence, Possession of Cocaine, Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, and related charges.

Lower Makefield Police responded to the 900 block of North Pennsylvania Avenue at 5:04 p.m. Friday to the report of an unknown call, with a car horn honking in the background at the location.

The caller asked for police, then hung up. Police could hear a car horn honking repeatedly.

Police located a vehicle in a driveway, honking, then fled upon seeing police, nearly striking the officer’s vehicle.

Police tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver would not stop. The vehicle was driving erratically and eventually lost control, disabling the vehicle, police said. At this point, a felony stop was conducted, but the driver would not cooperate with police officers.

The man was taken into police custody. He was found in possession of three bottles of Bacardi rum and a Ziploc bag containing a white powdery substance. Police did not name the New Jersey man.
