Commonplace Reader Celebrating Independent Bookstore Day

YARDLEY, PA —It's considered the most special day of the year for the Commonplace Reader.

The borough's bookstore at 49. S. Main St. will celebrate the 11th anniversary of Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday.

“Independent Bookstore Day is one of our staff's most special days of the year. It both celebrates the bookseller and the book buyer," Owner Elizabeth Young said. "We are so excited to have participated for the last five years and look forward to many more. We will be giving away books, and stickers; the porch will have tables with some special treats and of course, we will share our favorite books and bookmarks with our favorite people."

Independent Bookstore Day (Indie Bookstore Day) was established in 2013 to promote, celebrate, and highlight the value of the Independent bookstore community.

The day has been observed on the last Saturday of April every year since 2013.

This year, more than 900 stores will participate across the country.

Independent Bookstore Day is organized by the American Booksellers Association, a national not-for-profit trade organization, that works with booksellers and industry partners to ensure the success and profitability of independently owned book retailers, and to assist in expanding the community of the book.
