Burglar Steals Jewelry, $5K Apple Scam: Lower Makefield Crimes

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department has released its blotter of criminal incidents for the past week.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Makefield Township Police Department has released its blotter of criminal incidents for the past week, including a nearly $5,000 Apple scam and a residential burglary.

BURGLARY — 100 block of West Ferry Road, reported at 12:05 p.m. Police responded to the report of a burglary, not in progress, at the location. Further investigation revealed that an unknown person(s) forced entry into the residence via a side door and removed jewelry. Investigation ongoing.

FRAUD — 500 block of Aspen Woods Drive, reported at 10 a.m. The complainant reported a neighbor was contacted by an unknown suspect claiming to be from Apple regarding a fraudulent charge. The neighbor was instructed to involve a third party to transfer funds. Two Venmo transactions totaling $4,994 were sent and later transferred as directed. The suspect promised a refund that did not occur.

Dec. 15

DUI ARREST — Taylorsville Road and Interstate 295, reported at 11:40 p.m. Police on patrol stopped a vehicle for violations. A further investigation led to the arrest of the 42-year-old Morrisville woman for Driving Under the Influence. She was taken into police custody.

Dec. 13

FRAUD — 900 block of Baron Drive, reported at 11:05 a.m. The complainant reported receiving a phone call from someone who they believed to be their bank. The victim provided all of their personal information to the caller before realizing it was a scam.

Dec. 12

DUI ARREST — Oxford Valley Road and Regency Boulevard, reported at 8:55 p.m. Police on patrol observed a vehicle idling in the left turn lane at the location. Upon approach, police observed an open can of White Claw in the cupholder. The male driver was sleeping in the backseat with the vehicle in neutral, and a dog in the backseat. A further investigation led to the arrest of a 40-year-old township man for Driving Under the Influence.
