Dragon boat racing began more than 2,000 years ago in ancient China and is now an Olympic demonstration sport gaining wide international appeal.
The Relentless Corporate Teams Program is a fun day on the water and more—it’s a team-building experience with real-world takeaways. While programs may be customized for your business or group, everyone learns that a dragon boat moves forward only when every paddler works toward the same goal. The same lesson drives successful teams: when leaders create a clear vision and everyone works together, progress happens fast. In a dragon boat, teamwork is everything! Dragon boat racing teaches how individual strengths, clear communication, effective leadership, collaboration, and resilience combine to help the team achieve its goal, just like in the workplace, classroom, or camp setting.

Ready to Experience the Thrill of Victory and Coming Together as a Team?
A dragon boat is 41 feet long, only 42 inches wide in the middle, and tapered at both ends. Two paddlers sit side-by-side on each of 10 narrow rows, all facing forward. Each paddler holds a single-bladed paddle, paddling on only one side of the boat. A steersperson stands in the back of the boat with a large paddle that is the boat’s rudder. During races, a drummer will sit on an elevated seat at the front of the boat, holding the cadence.
The Relentless Corporate Teams Program includes a world-renowned coach and steersperson leading every event, plus experienced Relentless-member paddlers to assist and help coach. Each program can accommodate 10-40 participants in RDBA’s two dragon boats; all equipment (paddles and Coast Guard-approved life vests) are provided by RDBA.
Every Teams program begins with warmup, safety, and paddling technique instruction on land, followed by instructional time and paddling on the beautiful Delaware River. Then, we race—three times! The adventure culminates with gold and silver medals awarded to each paddler in the first and second-place boats, plus snacks and beverages to celebrate!
Businesses and organizations who sign up for the Teams program often take advantage of RDBA’s New Hope location by combining their team-building event with a meeting and/or lunch or dinner at one of the area’s many excellent restaurants.
