Fitzpatrick Appointed To House Intelligence Committee

The Republican congressman, who represents all of Bucks County, is a former FBI agent.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, of Bucks County, has been appointed to the House Intelligence Committee.

Officially the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the committee oversees the nation's intelligence agencies, including parts of the departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Justice, State, Treasury and Energy.

As a member of the committee, Fitzpatrick will help oversee the FBI, which which he is a former agent. The committee is chaired by Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff, of California.

The committee handles issues including cybersecurity, election hacking and threats from foreign governments and other actors.

"It is an honor to have been appointed to his position," Fitzpatrick said. "As a former FBI agent, I look forward to using that experience to work with my colleagues on the committee in our joint mission to protect our nation’s security and oversee our intelligence agencies.

Fitzpatrick also is a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the ranking minority-party member on a Foreign Affairs subcommittee, as well as the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, also known as the U.S. Helsinki Commission.

Fitzpatrick is from Levittown and was elected to a third term in Congress in November. His district includes all of Bucks County and a sliver of neighboring Montgomery County.
