FALLSINGTON, PA —A year that started with the Pennsbury High School Football team breaking a three-year losing streak could bring playoff glory Friday night.

When the team crushed William Tennent High School, 35-0, in Warminster in early September, the win snapped its 17-game losing streak. It was the Falcons' first victory in three years.

Now, the 8-1 Falcons are in second place in District One and can clinch the SOL title with an away game win over Neshaminy Friday night, said Jennifer Neill, the Pennsbury School District's supervisor of public relations.

She said Pennsbury is in first place in SOL with a 6-0 record. Meanwhile, Garnett Valley is in first place overall with an 8-0 record.

The school district has been buzzing with excitement throughout the season, especially ahead of Friday's game, Neill said.

"The whole district is really excited," she said. "We're behind this team. It's quite an impressive turnaround. The kids want this. The players want this, especially the seniors who went through a few years of losing. This has really bolstered the energy around here."

A lot of the credit for the turnaround goes to Galen Snyder, now in his second stint with the district as its football coach.

Snyder began his second stint as Pennsbury coach in mid-December after winning 116 games (while losing 47), plus four SOL National Conference Championships (2009, 2012-14) and two PIAA District Class AAAA titles (2006 and '14) from 2002-15 before leaving, the Bucks County Courier News reported.
