Lower Makefield Honors Police Officer For Military Service

With Veterans Day, the Lower Makefield Police Department recognized the military service of Acting Sgt. Robert Kennedy.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — With Veterans Day on Tuesday, the Lower Makefield Township Police Department is honoring Acting Sgt. Robert Kennedy for his dedicated service to the nation and his continued commitment to the community.

From 2001 to 2009, Kennedy honorably served in the U.S. Army, completing boot camp at Fort Benning, GA, and achieving the rank of sergeant. During his military career, he served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (Stateside) in 2003, and later deployed with the 4th Infantry Division in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003 to 2004.

In April 2010, Kennedy joined the Lower Makefield Township Police Department, where he has served with distinction in multiple roles, including Patrol Officer, Accident Reconstructionist, First Aid Instructor, Motor Officer & Acting Sergeant.

"Acting Sgt. Kennedy continues to bring the same dedication, professionalism, and sense of duty that defined his military career to his role in law enforcement," the police department said. "His service reflects the highest traditions of both the United States Army and the Lower Makefield Township Police Department."

Throughout his service, Kennedy earned numerous awards and commendations, including the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Certificate of Achievement & Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Following his honorable service in the U.S. Army, Kennedy began his law enforcement career with the Philadelphia Police Department.
