Lower Makefield Pool Planning 2021 Season
A meeting has been scheduled to discuss questions, concerns and plans for the pool, which did not open in 2020 due to COVID-19.
LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — A public meeting has been scheduled for next month as Lower Makefield tries to plan a 2021 season for the township's pool.
In a letter to residents, Monica Tierney, director of Lower Makefield Township Parks and Recreation, said that meeting will be held on Feb. 10 to answer questions and discuss next steps for the pool.
The popular aquatic center on Edgewood Road had been scheduled to open on May 24 in 2020, but the entire season was scrapped due to coronavirus concerns.

COVID-19 case numbers have surged again in Bucks County and the rest of Pennsylvania — first, generally, in the fall then again after the Christmas and New Year's holidays. But, with a vaccine being distributed, local officials are hoping they'll be able to open the pool this year.
In a recent survey by the parks and recreation department, 77 percent of the 846 respondents, almost all of them pool members, said they would like the pool to open this year.

"I believe we got a very nice sampling of what people are looking for in 2021 to feel comfortable and safe at the pool in 2021," Tierney said in the letter.
