New Police Chief Takes Oath In Lower Makefield

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —Lower Makefield Township now has a new police chief to replace the retired Kenneth Coluzzi.

Former Yardley Borough Police Chief Joseph D. Kelly III took the oath of office to lead the Lower Makefield Township Police Department.

"With over 30 years of law enforcement experience, including leadership roles in municipal and transit policing, Chief Kelly is ready to bring his expertise and commitment to public safety to our community," township officials said. "Join us in welcoming Chief Kelly as he takes on this important role."

Kelly replaces Police Chief Kenneth Coluzzi, who served 48 years in law enforcement. He investigated the "Boy In the Box" case in Philadelphia.

“I am excited to join the Lower Makefield Township team and join this group of dedicated public servants,” Kelly said in a statement following the vote by supervisors last month.
