PDE Awards Morrisville School District With $500K Grant

Bucks Co. Democrats John Galloway and Perry Warren worked together to secure the grant, which will be used for various education programs.

MORRISVILLE, PA — Two Bucks County Democrats secured a grant of $500,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education that will be used for the Morrisville School District and its various educational programs.

State Representatives John Galloway and Perry Warren announced that they had worked together to secure the grant, which come from the Ready to Learn Block Grant.

The Ready to Learn Block Grant was created to enhance learning opportunities for students. It will provide resources for schools to innovate their standard of education at the local level.

The funds from this large grant will be used for:

  • Establishing, maintaining, or expanding quality pre-kindergarten programs.
  • Establishing, maintaining, or expanding quality kindergarten programs.
  • Class size reduction program.
  • Social and health services programs.
  • Tutoring assistance (during the school day).
  • Professional development.
  • Materials or extended hours for school libraries.
  • Elementary school world language programs.
  • Career awareness programs.
  • Offering Advanced Placement courses.
  • Math or Reading programs.
  • Improving the academic performance of vulnerable students.

John Galloway, D-Bucks, talked about the importance of grants like these, as well as how it will help students in this school district.

"I’ve long said the smartest investment the state can make to secure a bright economic future is in the education of our young people," Galloway said in a statement. "This $500,000 will make a real impact in students’ lives by improving educational programs in the Morrisville School District."
