Pennbury High Wins $500 Grant For Teen Driver Safety Video

The winning teen driver public service announcement will air on Comcast networking.

PENNBURY, PA — Pennsbury High School this week received a $500 cash grant from the Bucks County Transportation Management Association after two of its students produced a winning video reminding teens the importance of safe driving.

The video was produced for this year’s Teen Driver Safety Video PSA Challenge, which encourages high schoolers to create 30-second videos reminding their peers to wear a seat belt correctly when driving or riding in a car.

The winning video will air on Comcast networking, TMA Bucks said in a news release.

“Teen driver safety remains an extremely important issue and these schools understand the importance of raising awareness to potentially help save lives," said TMA Bucks Executive Director Stephen Noll said in a statement. "TMA Bucks thanks Comcast and the Bucks County Courier Times and The Intelligencer for continuing to partner with us on this important program.”

The victor was chosen from a pool of submissions from Council Rock High School North, New Hope-Solebury High School, Palisades High School, Villa Joseph Marie High School and William Tennent High School.

The winning video was produced by Pennsbury seniors Kaitlyn Garbinger and Jeffrey Schaal and juniors Andrew Santella and Heather Thomas.

"Despite all of the challenges and restrictions that were in place this year, this group was able to collaborate on this project safely and efficiently,” Pennsbury High School video production teacher Dan Mahoney said in a statement. “The thoughtful message is a video reminder to all of us as we start to venture outside again. I'm so impressed and proud that others will be able to see the results of their hard work."
