Pennsbury Studying Online, Hybrid Reopening Plans

FALLSINGTON, PA — Pennsbury School District's board will decide between an entirely remote school reopening plan and one that is a mix of online and in-person classes.

Tuesday night, the school board's education committee met to hear details of the plans from the district's administration.

In basic terms, the two options for reopening are:

• A virtual option, under which classes would be taught by Pennsbury staff five days a week online when schools open on Sept. 8. Students would get more direction instruction from teachers, school board President T.R. Kannan noted in a social media post, but it would be virtual.
• A hybrid option, under which students would be in school for two days each week and work remotely, on their own schedules, for three days. This option would give students in-person contact with teachers, but only for two days per week.

The school board is expected to vote on a reopening plan, as well as an athletics plan, at a meeting on Thursday. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. and can be viewed here.

Kannan said board members have been hearing from parents with "varied preferences" for the reopening. On his Facebook page, he posted a poll asking parents whether they'd prefer the remote or hybrid option.
