Police Department Mourns Passing Of Former Sergeant
Sergeant Mark Wert served as an officer of the Middletown Township Police Department since 1981 and was promoted to Sergeant in 1995.
LANGHORNE, PA — The Middletown Township Police Department announced the passing of former Sergeant Mark Werk, who served in the township from 1981 to 2014, on Thursday, Dec. 2.
Wert began his career in the police department in 1981, eventually being promoted to Sergeant I 1995. Prior to this, he served his country in the United States Air Force. He also served as the emergency management coordinator for the department during his tenure.
He also founded the department's Honor Guard and volunteered at the William Penn Fire Company. Wert was known for looking for all the ways he could serve his community.

Wert officially retired from the police department in 2014.
"He will be deeply missed by the many friends, coworkers and family he leaves behind," the department said in a Facebook post.
