Lower Makefield Flag Football Team Headed To Pro Bowl In Vegas
The Lower Makefield Falcons 10u tournament team won the NFL Flag regional in Washington, D.C., to earn an automatic national bid.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —Scott Frymire has spent the past week in Las Vegas at the Pro Bowl.
No, he's not a player in the NFL's annual game. But he is coaching football.
Frymire is coaching the Lower Makefield Football Association's flag football team that just happened to win a championship that earned them the Vegas trip to participate in a flag football tournament, take in a college football game and maybe even meet some NFL players.

"This is the most incredible experience," the third-year coach said. "I wish everyone could have seen the look on the kids' faces that we were going to Las Vegas. It was just sheer enjoyment and thrills."

Flag football has become such a hot sport lately that the NFL adopted it to spice up interest in the Pro Bowl, the game that features star players from the NFC and the NFC the week before the Super Bowl. The Pro Bowl takes place Sunday.
This is a first for the NFL and the flag football teams will be coached by former NFL stars and brothers Peyton and Eli Manning.
The NFL has supported flag football throughout the country for teams like Lower Makefield. NFL teams sponsor the different tournaments, Frymire said, and his team of seven kids ages 10 and under got to compete at the nation's capital.
The team also got a chance to play an exhibition game at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Winning the age group in Washington, D.C., meant an automatic bid for the team to participate in the national tournament. As they say, Vegas Baby!
Frymire found it interesting that the NFL is going the flag football route as well on a professional level.
"I think the format is terrific," he said. "It's about touch football."
He said, while in Vegas, his squad got to watch the East-West Shrine Game of college all-stars and take in some Pro Bowl events during the week.
"We hope to meet the Mannings and some NFL players," he said.
But this wasn't a Vegas Vacation.
There was still a tournament to train for and Frymire wanted his tandem ready for action.
The team had games in a single-style elimination bracket. Frymire would like to add another championship to his resume.
But either way, he's enjoying his time as a coach.
"My wife gave me a nudge to do this," he said. "I love working with the kids."
