Stormwater Utility Fee Considered In Lower Makefield

The Lower Makefield Township Supervisors will vote on the fee at its Dec. 17 meeting.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — A stormwater utility fee for township residents is under discussion.

The Lower Makefield Township Board of Supervisors is expected to discuss and vote on a stormwater utility fee ordinance at its meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 17.

The fee would support the township's stormwater management efforts.

Officials said the stormwater utility fee would provide a dedicated, sustainable funding source to support efforts that will maintain vital infrastructure, reduce flooding, and meet state and federal mandates.

The fee would go into effect on Jan. 1. A related credit policy is expected to be considered in January..

The fee would be assessed monthly and based on impervious surface area, with a tiered structure ranging from no charge for parcels under 300 square feet to rates for larger residential, commercial, and institutional properties.

Billing is anticipated to occur quarterly, with an optional annual payment (3 percent discount). The first bills are expected to be mailed on April 1, 2026.
