Walkway Work Complete On 'Trenton Makes' Bridge
The walkway over the Delaware River, from Morrisville to Trenton, is now open 24 hours a day, officials said.
MORRISVILLE, PA — The summer-long project to replace the walkway on the Lower Trenton Toll-Supported Bridge has been completed.
The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced that walkway work on the bridge, known commonly as the "Trenton Makes" bridge, was finished last week.
Closures of the walkway now will no longer be necessary and the walkway is available for public use 24 hours a day, the commission said. Over the past two months, periodic walkway closures were needed to do the re-decking project.

Crews removed the walkway's weathered wooden planks and replaced them with new composite decking. The 1,022-foot-long, eight-foot-wide walkway had last been replaced six years ago.
Officials say the new composite decking is expected to wear down slower and last longer than the wooden planks.
